Check Recovery Service
powered by
Double Check

This is a collection service that Martinsburg Bank and Trust offers to our business customers and it is absolutely FREE!

Here’s how it works!

The first time someone writes you a check and that check is returned to you unpaid, you will get a call from the Retail Service Manager at your local branch.  The Retail Service Manager will explain the Check Recovery Service and get your permission to start the collection process.  Once a check has been dishonored, your account will be charged the return deposit fee of $7.00 and the returned check will be backed out of your account.  You will still receive a notice in the mail but instead of sending the dishonored check back to your business to collect, the bank will forward the check to Double Check where it will be imaged and prepared for re-presentment.  Upon receipt of your first returned item, Double Check will send you a Welcome Packet which will include your Account ID, Username and Password for access to the online reporting system.  Once the check is converted from paper, it is presented electronically back to the originator’s account.  At that point, you will be able to follow the collection process 24/7 via the online reporting system.  Once the check is collected, your account will be credited electronically for both the amount of the check and the retuned fee of $7.00 that you were charged.  Your business will get your money collected faster without taking time away from your day to day operations.

If you would like to take advantage of this FREE service, call your local branch and request the service.  Otherwise, you will be notified by the Retail Service Manager upon the return on a deposited item to your account.

This is just another way that Martinsburg Bank and Trust can help you take care of your business!
